A patient is required to have Medicaid to be enrolled in to the CDPAP program. If the patient is eligible but does not yet have active coverage, Preferred Home Care can help you apply for Medicaid. We will need the name and contact information of the patient’s primary care physician so that we can obtain the necessary documentation.
A caregiver can be anyone you trust to provide the care you need. They can be a family member, a friend, or a neighbor. To apply, potential caregivers need to have had a physical examination within the last year. They also need rubella and lab results, two PPD shots within the last year, and undergone a drug screening. If the caregiver has any difficulty obtaining this required information, our CDPAP specialists will assist in obtaining it for you. Documents you will need include a Social Security card, proof of residency, and two forms of photo ID.
Preferred Home Care offers considerable benefits for providing caregiver services, including weekly pay with direct deposit or a paycheck, paid vacation, overtime, and sick days. However, compensation is set on a case by case basis. The insurance company will set the final rate based on the approved hours and the needs of the patient. Call us to receive an estimated pay rate.
No formal training, license, or certificate is necessary to be a caregiver under CDPAP. Patients will be able to tailor the services their caregiver provides to fit their needs.
Yes, however, there are two restrictions to this. The caregiver cannot be your spouse and they cannot be the parent of a child under 21.
