The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program is a government program that allows patients in need of home care to choose who will provide them with the services they require. Under the guidelines of the program, it allows patients who require home care, personal care, or skilled nursing services to receive the help they need from a friend or family member. The caregiver is compensated for their time at a rate directly based on the needs of the patient.
This program is made available through Medicaid and requires that the patient be enrolled before they can sign up for CDPAP. If a patient who wishes to apply for CDPAP is not already on Medicaid, Preferred Home Care will assist them through the process of applying for Medicaid.
